Plague and Ponchatoula

So the plague has worsened. I had to cancel on the extra work today because I was dizzy and hacking this morning an hour before my call time.

Blech.

Anyhow, here's something to ponder - I have an entire flat of Ponchatoula strawberries. I know I'm going to make strawberry preserves and vanilla bean ice cream with crushed strawberries. I have already made fresh strawberry muffins.

But...any other cool ideas for how to use these gorgeous berries?

1. Chopped strawberries sprinkled with a little Splenda and drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette makes a nice (and healthy) dessert.

2. I like chopped strawberries in my salads -- mixed greens, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, blue cheese, and the vinaigrette of your choice -- yum!

3. Freeze them and use them in smoothies

4. My grandmother makes this dessert dish with strawberries, jello, cream cheese, and crushed pretzels. Remind me and I'll send you the recipe later.

5. Barring any other ideas, you could always just ship them to Jacksonville! ;-)

Fresh Strawberry daiquiries. That's what a friend and I did with ours a few years ago. Just don't use Capt. Morgans like we did. You get a hang over before the buzz even wears off. ugh.
